FERGUSON ENDORSES KLOPP AS A GENUINE CONTENDER

Sir Alex Ferguson’s endorsement was welcomed by Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and he joked that he can’t return the compliment because Ferguson is no more a coach.

He believes that the German has brought back The Reds into the category of the title contenders.

The former Manchester United coach agreed a year ago that he was concerned by Klopp’s arrival at Anfield, the club he famously succeeded in “knocking off their perch” during his 26 years at Manchester United, and the Scot again last week reportedly said Klopp’s impact at Anfield means the Reds are genuine contenders for a 19th English title and a first since 1990.

“I knew him before and he is a really nice person. He did what was expected of him at Manchester United and that automatically was at our detriment which we actually tried to resist most of the time, and that was his ability to defeat us then,” Klopp said. “When he has to say something positive about Liverpool, it is better than if he would say something negative so it is all good. But it does not mean a lot. It does not disturb us or help us.” Continue reading “FERGUSON ENDORSES KLOPP AS A GENUINE CONTENDER”

MIKE PHELAN HOSTS HIS FORMER CLUB

Mike Phelan is set to host his former club Manchester United when they meet in the third round of games in the Premier League.

Phelan used to be the right hand man of Sir Alex Ferguson – United’s former coach. Phelan is currently the caretaker manager of the newly promoted side, Hull City.

City has just 13 players, yet the talented coach in Phelan has guided the squad to four victories. The meagre squad figure is astonishing considering the rigour of the Premier League. The management is working with the manager to add at least six more player before the transfer deadline in a few days.

Steve Bruce was the former manager of the club, bringing them from the Championship to top flight English football, yet he decided to walk away after an altercation with the management. Phelan has always reminded who ever cared to listen that he was not a manager yet.

“I am not a manager at the moment. I guess my career has gone in a roundabout way. But the challenge is great and we have worked really hard here,” Phelan said. So far, Hull has shown decent results, shocking title holders Leicester City in the curtain raiser and showing their dominance when they faced Swansea. Since getting promotion in May during the playoffs, the club hasn’t made any additions. Continue reading “MIKE PHELAN HOSTS HIS FORMER CLUB”

The Shared Camaraderie Between Sir Alex And Wyness

The legendary teams and their coaches are names and people who live on forever.

Sir Alex Ferguson might have been on his path to retirement in 2012 when he struck the deal to bring in Robin van Persie to Arsenal for a whopping 24 million pounds which had been a gamble and a decision that had several consequences.

Even today there are others like Keith Wyness who seeks his advice on different topics. For instance, the search for a new manager for Aston Villa was suggested by Sir Alex Ferguson and not without reason. Wyness is known to have linkages with Alex due to their former past in Aberdeen. Even though Wyness joined the Aberdeen team after leaving Sydney Olympics in 2000 he has been in talking terms with Alex. Hence, when it comes to finding new managers, Sir Alex is someone whom Wyness would resort to. However, Wyness admits that he did not follow Sir Alex’s advice fully and discounted the choices that he had presented.

Ferguson had left Aberdeen long back and Wyness revealed that the club had changed since then. The club had an era before, but today the standards have slipped for the club. For instance, when the club celebrated their centenary most of the present members found it hard to believe that the club had the potential to beat clubs like Real Madrid. Nostalgia is all the club has to offer now. Continue reading “The Shared Camaraderie Between Sir Alex And Wyness”

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the biggest mistake he made in his career

Former Manchester United manager has revealed that the biggest mistake he made in his management career has been to announce his retirement in 2001.

He said that this statement has negatively impacted the club and that their results in this season suffer a lot because of this. Ultimately he changed his mind and stayed for another 11 years at Old Trafford while winning a heap of trophies along the way.

He said that the fact that he announced that he was going to retire caused his players to lose their focus. In 2001, he made the announcement at the start of the season, and he felt that his players did not want to give their best thinking that the manager will be going after the season. He added that under the pressure of his wife and his children, he changed his mind in January, but it was too late to motivate the players.

He said that even the recruitment suffers in that season because players did not want to sign for a manager that was going to stay for only one season. However, things changed when they sign Rooney and Ronaldo at the start of the next season. He had to get the team back in the mood so as to be able to mount a title challenge. Wes Brown will not play an important role for Sunderland in this season

Unfortunately for Wes Brown, he will not be an influential player for Sunderland in the 2015-16 season of the Premier League as the manager Dick Advocaat made it very clear that he does not have any big plans for the 35 year old defender who used to perform for Manchester United for over 10 years before eventually deciding to make a move to Sunderland.

Wes Brown hasn’t even been able to make into the substitute list of Dick Advocaat from the past Premier League matches of Sunderland and this is a sign for whats to come for the veteran defender who is reaching the twilight stages of his career and is spending his senior years by not even being able to make it into the pitch and get consistent playing time.

When Sunderland’s Dick Advocaat was asked about Wes Brown, the Dutch manager replied by saying: “Wes has a different role this season. We’re only going to use him if we really need him. But he’s fit, yes.” Continue reading “Wes Brown will not play an important role for Sunderland in this season”

Sir Alex Ferguson has ended any hopes of a return from retirement

Sir Alex Ferguson has ended any hopes of a return from retirement after stating that he feels extremely happy to watch football from the stands.

The former Manchester United boss retired from football two years ago. He is regarded as one of the finest managers in world football. His acumen in the transfer market led to several big signings for United like Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo. United can certainly do with this acumen right now, as they are struggling to return to winning ways. The club has brought in the likes of Memphis Depay for £ 25 million.

These signings of up to be the work of current manager Louis van Gaal. Ferguson has stated that he completely does not miss football, since he gets to stay in touch with the latest happenings as a Manchester United fan from the stands. The transfer period is also the time of the year when a manager gets incredibly busy, but Ferguson says that he no longer wants to be involved in it. Much of Van Gaal’s signings last season did not work out in the way that the Dutchman expected and he will be hoping for a much better return from the likes of Depay. Radamel Falcao backs Alex as Manager of MU

The representative of Radamel Falcao reckons if Sir Alex Ferguson had still been the manager of Manchester United, the Colombian striker would have played a lot better.

Falcao has been at Manchester United this season on loan. He’s had a handful of playing opportunities and he has scored some goals too, but, Jorge Mendes, his representative, is not satisfied.

According to Mendes, Falcao should be given 90 minutes on a regular basis and that would have happened if Sir Alex was there.

Talking to a radio network in France, Mendes said, “Radamel would perhaps have been used better by Sir Alex. He is clearly not getting as much of playing time as he deserves.” Continue reading “Radamel Falcao backs Alex as Manager of MU”

Alex Ferguson confident upon MU winning this Season

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has backed United in the title race this season because of the fact that they have some great players like Michael Carrick.

He has also branded Carrick is the best English player right now. Carrick was brought to United in 2006 for around £ 18 million. He has gone on to win numerous accolades like the Champions League and the Premier league, but he has never been seen as a Paul Scholes replacement. He has done his best to change this perception in the last few years.

The English international missed the start of this campaign due to injury problems. His return to the starting line-up coincided with a significant improvement in form. United have suffered only one defeat since Carrick has been in the team. This good run of form has propelled them to just 10 points behind the table leaders Chelsea with more than half of the season remaining. Ferguson’s United have managed to claim the title from this position, and it may be one of the reasons for the Scot claiming that United still have an opportunity. A run of six straight victories was recently halted by a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

“They [United] have still got great players. I think Michael Carrick is the best centre midfield player in English football. I think he’s the best English player in the game. I think Robin van Persie, the World Cup has maybe taken a little bit out of him, but you watch him in the second half, he’ll be fine.Rooney is back flying and Rooney will always get you a goal and that’s always an advantage when a team has got a goalscorer in a team. And the one that’s most pleasing to me of the present lot is David de Gea,” said Ferguson.

Neville and Giggs Praise Ferguson

The Manchester United legends Phil Neville and Ryan Giggs were all praise for their former boss Sir Alex Ferguson in their recent interview.

The two said that the 72-year old Scot would always remain a highly respected figure in their eyes.

Neville and Giggs spent almost their whole Manchester United career playing under Ferguson and they saw all the success there. From the league to the European Cup title, they won everything at Old Trafford.

Giggs retired in the middle of the last season to take the job of the interim manager at United, while, Neville retired a few months before him i.e. in the summer of 2013.

While, Giggs represented only the Red Devils throughout his career, Neville played for Everton too, but, his peak performances came at United only.

Giggs is associated with United even now. He is Louis Van Gaal’s assistant there currently. Neville was also supposed to take some kind of a coaching role after retirement, but, he has not done so as yet.

Giggs and Neville were together interviewed a couple of days back by an English daily and they were asked various questions about their United career there.

When asked about Ferguson, Giggs had this to say, “I used to see him as guardian and I give him the same amount of respect even today. He knows me inside out. He could just sense when I was not feeling comfortable about my game. He was a magical manager.”

Neville also hailed the legendary manager saying, “I think genius is the word for Sir Alex. He had that sense of calmness in him. He knew how to bring 100% out of a guy. Without his guidance, I don’t think it would have been possible for me to become as successful as I did.”
